Self-drilling plasterboard fixings are fasteners designed to securely attach ceiling track systems max of 2mm thickness to plasterboard (drywall) without the need for pre-drilled holes. These fixings are particularly useful in situations where you don't want to damage the plasterboard or where you don't have access to studs (the wooden or metal framing behind the drywall).
